Bursary Opportunities on offer for aspiring Creative Arts professionals As part of contributing towards developing a skilled and capable workforce in support of an inclusive growth path, the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, along with the Gauteng Arts and Culture Council (GACC) are offering bursaries for studies within the creative arts and culture sector. Last year alone the department had 36 students in its bursary scheme. Until 31 October 2014 individuals can apply for 2015 bursaries in the following disciplines: Ceramic, Graphic and Fashion design, Classical Music, Copywriting, Media Studies, Creative Writing, Drama, Dance & Choreography, Fine Art, Jewellery design, Performing arts, Photography, Puppetry, Sound Engineering, Textile design, Theatre and Visual Arts, Research in the field of Arts and Culture. Students will be assisted for the period of a 4 year studying cycle provided that they pass. Only Undergraduate and Post Graduate South African citizens residing and studying in Gauteng can apply for bursaries while students studying at private institutions or those who are permanently employed (either by public or private institutions) will not be eligible for consideration. Accompanying the bursary application must be official and recent academic transcripts / results, certified copy of ID, an updated CV and two written reference letters from reputable referees. The bursary will cover tuition fees, registration fees and 100% of textbook books and other reading/studying materials excluding accommodation and transport costs. The closing date for applications is 31 October 2014.
