Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has spent over 5 million - TopicsExpress

Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has spent over 5 million to purchase 10 acre piece of land that will be used to erect his palatial residence. The 10 acre of land near Bugengi Primary School in Nambale constituency will be used to construct the governor’s complex where he will enjoy with his family as Busia residence will wait for any sign of development. This comes at a time in Busia when things seems not to be working for the benefit of the electorate and at a time when other governors have prioritized their development agenda like Alfred Mutua who recently launched new Machakos City as well as reconstructing Machakos Stadium which is currently hosting CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup. The residents are threatening to impeach Mr Sospeter if he fails to meet the expectation of the voters. The residents of Busia criticized Ojaamong over misplaced priorities saying insecurity, infrastructure and health would have been his priorities rather than his palace. The governor is also accused of nepotism and favouratism of people from his Teso community who have been awarded tenders and lucrative jobs in the county. “Ojaamong has constantly abused his office by ensuring us from other tribe to win tenders or work with the county. The only solution is to impeach him,’’ said Mr Ingede Mulama. However, while speaking in a funeral in a nearby Nambale town on weekend, the governor warned his fellow leaders to find way of developing the county not myopic politics. ‘’we have not resolved other ways of solving our problems. The rush to collect signatures is premature and leaders ought to sit and discuss problems before taking the next step,’’ he said, he further watered down claims that the Busia County Governor office has employed relatives close to him.
