But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it - TopicsExpress

But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. (Exodus 17:12) As long as Moses held the Rod of The Lord ( which represented the power of a God among them), high, the Israelites prevailed over Amalek. However, when they dropped because of weariness in holding them up, then the Amalekites prevailed. Moses could not do this alone. His arms grew weary and Im sure began to shake from trying to hold them up.....the people were dependent upon him doing his job....holding up the symbol of Gods power....they could not win without this.....but in sheer exhaustion, he would drop his arms and the battle would turn against them. But, he was not alone! Aaron and Hur came alongside him and sat him on a rick and then together held his arms up, hour by hour until the sun set and the battle was won! None of us can serve God in our own strength.....none of us can go it alone! We need one another. There are times we all need for someone to come and help hold us up and there are times we need to hold someone else up! I need the prayers and the help of others to carry on. There are times when I am so weak and I dont think I can preach another sermon, counsel another person, answer another Bible question......sometimes even a phone call will cause me to drop my arms in complete surrender to the powerlessness I feel. Have you been there? If not, dont worry, you will be! Whose arms are you lifting? Is it a brother or sister who is struggling and perhaps straying? Is it a single mom wondering how she can go on? Is it one whose illness has broken them? Is it a child, no one cares for? So many need someone to hold them up in prayer, in Godly encouragement, sometimes just to sit in silence with them. There are more than enough others who want to fix everyone, to straighten them out, to criticize.....dont be one of those. Be one who lifts up another. Remember those who have lifted you. May I also encourage you to not let your fear of criticism by others, or your own pride keep you from asking for others to hold you up.....thats what the Body of Christ is about!
