Oman Met Office advises people to stay away from sea, wadis and low lying areas ....................................................................................................................... Muscat: The Directorate General of Meteorology and Air Navigation (DGMAN) has again warned of unstable weather, which may cause moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas starting from Thursday evening to Sunday. Winds will be moderate to strong, causing rising dust and dirt in some areas and may lead to low visibility with high waves in the sea. People going out in the sea have been warned to be cautious, a senior official said. A low pressure system forming in the Arabian Peninsula will lead to rain, wind, thunderstorms and hailstorm all over Oman starting from Thursday evening. This low-pressure system has led to heavy rain in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain causing infrastructure damage and human losses. DGMAN has also called for motorists to use extreme caution on slippery roads and on the areas where there is low-visibility and refrain from venturing into wadis which are prone to flash floods. The rains will also bring down the temperature significantly in some areas of Oman, the official added. Meanwhile, law enforcing agencies has advised campers to follow a number of safety measures during their trips this weekend. The measures include avoiding camping near wadis and keeping children away from water valleys, the warning said. People are advised to take the following precautions: - Avoid heading to the sea - Stay away from the wadis - Drive slowly on slippery roads - Stock extra water and food at home - Charge battery lights and keep candles on standby in the event of a power outage
