But lets be clear; when various people talk about big government theyre talking about different things. For some, its big, as in big brother, in reference to surveillance and laws they free impact their individual liberties. A large sub-set of those equate individual liberties with property rights, by which they REALLY mean the ability to do what evewr they want with their land and possessions regardless of the consequences to others or the planet. To them, environmental regulations are big government. For others, its taxation, which REALLY means that they dont like being compelled to pay for social services for people of color, like public schools. Meanwhile military spending as a percentage of both the Federal budget and the GDP has steadily increased... but no one tends to think about that under the rubric of big government.
