But made Himself of NO REPUTATION, and took upon Him the form of a SERVANT, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He HUMBLED Himself, and became OBEDIENT unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:7, 8)… It’s amazing that so many of us today are screaming that Christian means to be “Christlike,” and with every fiber of our being, we are only displaying ourselves as being “Selflike.” We’re into Christianity for OURSELVES, for what we can GET from God, for what God can DO for us, and never once stopping to think of ourselves as SERVANTS of God that ought to be asking God what can we DO FOR Him, and what can we GET FOR Him! Jesus gave up Glory to become one of us so that we might be REDEEMED back to God. Instead of doing likewise for others now that we are saved, we pursue EVERYTHING Jesus said we should GIVE UP and FORSAKE to take up our CROSS and FOLLOW Him. Instead of HUMBLING, we EXALT ourselves by our pursuit of TITLES, RICHES and MATERIALISM – all of which equals COVETOUSNESS. We BLASPHEME the name of the Living God and His Son by our LUSTS to want to be MORE than what Jesus Himself has been throughout His ministry. We turn up our noses and feign righteous indignation when we read about the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus’ day, not realizing that WE HAVE BECOME THEM!!!
