But when the driver opened his mouth again and started to moralise again, my friend’s uncle slapped him hard to water down his enthusiasm a bit. Nearly 19 years later, a horde of such inebriated drivers donning various masks have started beating their chests about the plight of Kashmiris. They are not driven by the concerns of the people or even by the idea of ridding the people of the yoke of slavery because they feed off this slavery. But unlike the driver, who was merely trying to ingratiate himself to the family member of a jailed freedom fighter, the new crop of drivers is armed with philosophies. While it was OK to have rotten philosophies, which they would rubbish with their own actions, it is a bit harsh that they are being exacting. Which gives rise to the important question: who can be exacting about the issues of great importance in the resistance?
