Buyer Beware THE TRUTH ABOUT CLEANSES Not a week goes by now where I dont get asked about cleansing programs. Heres the truth behind the marketing hype. According to one company their 30-day nutritional cleansing program is designed to rid the body of potentially harmful impurities. Ok, so I dont want toxins, so what should I do? Buy their meal replacement shakes, powders, processed snack bars and slimming pills. Real food cleanses Hang on! But doesnt real, whole food give me all the nutrients I need to naturally cleanse my system? Yes, all the nutrient-rich food you need to naturally cleanse is readily available. And the correct ratio of nutritious foods will optimise cellular function compared to a shake-based food intake that is essentially unbalanced nutrition – no matter how many vitamins, minerals and herbs that get added to the powder mix. Dont fall for the marketing hype The claim that our food is low in nutrients is often used to sell supplements. But even though some soils are lower in selenium today, food quality overall has improved dramatically. So these claims are just scaremongering. Why so popular? When the marketing for a product you dont need is so good, seems to make sense and maybe you want to believe a supplement will fix things... it will always be popular. But real food wins in the end Theres nothing like the feeling of managing your weight and your metabolism with real food. It does take more effort than mixing a shake, but its worth it, and cheaper. ~Matt Oneill
