By Angela Hurst — 1 hour ago I am writing this with tears streaming down my face as today has not turned out according to my plan. Amber had an emergency MRI today due to an increase of symptoms. She has near complete loss of strength in her right hand and her legs are cold, numb and tingly. Her body aches immensely all over and she is having difficulty catching her breath. The results of todays MRI are anything but good. The original tumor in Ambers neck and spine has quadrupled in size in the past four weeks. The pressure the tumor is putting on the spinal cord is starting to shut her body down. Our team of Doctors were hoping to start a new chemo drug but Ambers disease is now to advanced for that treatment. The Doctors gave us a last ditch effort of more radiation to buy more time. We are currently sitting at the University of Penn awaiting emergency radiation treatment. Our Doctor was very honest and blunt. Without radiation Amber only has a number of weeks. She may still only have weeks with the radiation but its worth trying. Amber has already had two doses of radiation in the area the tumor is in. They would never under ordinary circumstances radiate that area again. However, Amber has no other option left. The Doctor stated that by the time the horrible effects of the radiation hit, Amber will be gone. Some may question why Amber would choose this? Well, her words... Im not done yet. Please pray for our family as we accept the inevitable and finalize plans for Ambers home going. Pray that the Doctors can keep her comfortable and at peace. -Angela
