By Darlingtone Kabambe in Lukulu I will declare PF as a muyaya party/one LUKULU/ZANIS/August 27, 2013 = = = Senior Chief Anang’anga of Namayula Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in Lukulu district of Western province said he will declare the Patriotic Front (PF) under the leadership of President Michael Sata as a MUYAYA political party if only Lukulu – Watopa- Kaoma road and the national grid is brought to the district. Senior chief Anang’anga said this when Western province minister Josephine Limata who is on the familiarization tour of the entire province called on him at his Namayula royal palace yesterday. He said currently the Lukulu- Kaoma road is at its best attributing this to the just ended Parliamentary by-elections that were held in Lukulu west constituency where UPND’s Misheck Mutelo won with a landslide victory. Senior chief Anang’anga complained that Lukulu – Kaoma road which can be an economic backbone of the district once tarred has just become a political campaign tool year in and year out but nothing tangible has come out of it since time immemorial. He appealed to government through the provincial minister to take his complaints seriously so that the road is worked on immediately before the onset of the rains as it is the life line and an artery for the development of Lukulu and now the newly created Mitete district. The chief pointed out that the district was developing at a fast rate hence he urged and encouraged the local government and heads of government departments both at the province and the district levels to work hand in hand with the traditional leadership as they are also advisors to the government of the day. He said government workers in the province and districts were impeding development as they have a phobia of visiting their Chiefs palaces in their areas of operations so that meaningful development is achieved as chiefs are the custodians of the land. Senior chief Anang’anga said he will continue fighting and die for the people in the district until government brings development to Lukulu. He complained that many investors have failed to invest in mango industry in Lukulu due to the high cost of doing business exacerbated by inadequate power supply denying the majority poor people from the much needed employment opportunities. Senior chief Anang’anga said urban roads have been redone several times but the rural roads have been left out hanging in development in the past and present governments adding that the Patriotic Front government should set precedence by working on all the roads of the country. He also complained that the disbursement of constituency development funds was not done in a proper manner as chiefs have always been left out. “CDF being public funds chiefs and their subjects were supposed to be included, I have observed with dismay how the funds have been misused on the expense of developing the district,” said Anang’anga. Senior chief Anang’anga urged the PF government to put an index on the newly created rural districts than those in urban places along the line of rail in terms of budgetary adding that budgets should not be the same as the rural places requires huge sums of money. He also appealed to government security wings to curb the escalating levels Karavina gunmen in Lukulu district. Senior chief Anag’anga wondered that people in his chiefdom were shot and killed by unknown Karavina gunmen when government is full with professional men and women trained to reduce the crime wave just sitting without doing anything to help the people. And speaking earlier, Western minister Josephine Limata said the PF government is on record of tarring all the roads across the country under the link Zambia 8000 road projects. Ms Limata said Lukulu – Katunda road would be worked on as it is on phase one of road projects including Limulunga – Mbanga – Lukulu as the major strides which the government will implement without fail as funds have already been secured. She said this the first time in the history of Zambia where government has created a ministry that will handle all chiefs’ complaints and it is on course of constructing and electrifying all chiefs palaces across the country. The minister said that the three service mobile providers in the country will erect communication towers in palaces and schools in the province in order to easy communication hurdles. Ms Limata said the PF government does not discriminate anyone regardless of tribe or political affiliations but it is extending its feathers so that development reaches the most rural parts of the country. She said the PF stands for the poor majority in the province so that their living standards are set and march with those in urban areas of Zambia. ENDS/DK/ZANIS/LUKULU
