By ROBERT WINKLER The Desert Independent July 13, 2013 BLYTHE, Calif – On Wednesday July 10, at 7:31 in the morning, Blythe Police officers found a broken window at Bruce’s Casino on South Main Street. Officers made entry, but found no one inside even though there were obvious signs entry had been made to the building. The owner reported two flat screen televisions, a bar top video game console, a cash register, and several cases of beer missing from the business. The estimated loss is valued at over $2200.00. Video surveillance cameras recorded the suspect breaking the window, and entering and leaving the building. Police identified the suspect as Henry Avalos, age 57, of Blythe. Avalos had been arrested the previous day for Public Intoxication. Officers report that at the time of the Burglary, Avalos appeared to still be wearing the same clothes as when he was arrested. Later that morning, at 11:03, officers responded to a motel in the 900 block of E. Hobsonway. Information had been received that some of the stolen property might be there. Officers searched the area, and found the bar top video game console at the rear of the motel. On Friday July 12, at 2:13 in the afternoon, Blythe Police were advised that Avalos had been arrested by officers of the Indio Police Department for auto theft. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a truck stolen from the unincorporated county area of Blythe. Charges relating to the local burglary are being submitted to the District Attorney for filing. Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
