Jews consider angels not quite spiritual (some of them have trouble considering even God as totally spiritual), St Thomas as purely spiritual beings, subsistent forms without matter. Jews (Philo, Maimonides) consider stars as ensouled, St Thomas as just carried about by angels. Jews consider stars are per se going west each day, under the direction of God, St Thomas they are getting a ride from God, West each day, while per se going east, in periodic orbits distinct from the daily one. Those were the differences. A likeness is the power they are considered to have over matter, ordinarily speaking.
