By courtesy of Edward Mitchell, heres Arthur Langes (Cinderella Ballroom/Cameo Recording) Orchestra performing Down Where The South Begins (https://youtube/watch?v=hFy0Y-6YaBk) with Earl Olivers growling trumpet, Tommy Gotts trumpet, Eph(raim) Hannaford (the uncle grandpa of Wendy Gardner & Craig Hannaford) on trombone, Morris Payess alto sax & clarinet, William Tresizes alto sax & violin, Owen Bartletts tenor sax, Licco Liggys violin, Ray Romanos piano, Frank Reinos banjo, Art(hur) Campbells tuba & Ken(neth) Whitmers drums. The history is that Arthur Lange cut this side for Cameo in its recording studio from the 200 West 57th Street from New York twice, with one take made on March 21 from 1924 (take C) & another take (take D) made on March 30 from 1924 & surprisingly, both takes were issued on Cameo 512 & Lincoln 2178 (as Lanes Dance Orchestra). The recording engineer of the Cameo recording studio was Al Houseman (more details about the Cameo recording studios on the 2nd part of the Tim Brooks article about Wee Willie Robyn (pronounced Rowbine): timbrooks.net/PDFs/robyn2.pdf). Hope youll enjoy this side!
