By far that is the best public address I have had the pleasure of hearing from a state public official in Oregon. It is a shame that such perfunctory of skill has faded from our most precious civic process. Of further note, I am reminded of the shameful acts most recent public history of the actions precipitated by members of the Portland Police Department, the City of Portland, the State Government of Oregon, its General Assembly, the Local Businesses of Portland, the clergy, the media, members of other local institutions, the general public, the protesters, and other members of Portland culture for its actions in recent civic unrest over the course of the past several years, especially in reference to Occupy Portland and associated rallies for overall incompetence and general resolve to demonstrate violent and unconstitutional displays against the poor and those who desired to use their inalienable, Constitutional rights of peaceful assembly and dissent by those who would use their civic authority to support the powerful at the cost of those with limited voices. This speech demonstrates that in another time, views towards dissenting opinion was not taken to be crushed, but only that unjust and unlawful use of force and the instigation of violence, what Christopher Hedges has referred to as the agent provocateur seeking to overthrow peaceful, nonviolent, militant protests and transform them into violent insurgent actions against the State, but more importantly, against local community. For these people, these organizations seek not peaceful resolution to social conflict, but instead, for the destruction of civic life and a return to plaintive barbarisms and strife. We can only fight such abominable acts of insurgent violence through acts of communal peaceful rejection of social ire and fight to see a better tomorrow through our just use of peaceful action and the just use of state powers to protect the rights of individuals who would seek to misuse them for their own aims, be they protestors or the protested alike. The means by which Portland Police, the media, and local and outside business used these proceedings as an opportunity to flex their muscles and create social misconduct by way of instigating violence in a state of unpreparedness demonstrates only their desire to misuse the People of Oregon and the powers and responsibility we entrusted to them by way of civic support. It is my hope that this speech demonstrates the legacy of Oregon to peaceful coexistence of state and local community members to peaceful actions, and that in the times ahead, the means to create peaceful and nonviolent resistance to these forces in a manner that would demonstrate to the People of Oregon what they have lost or what has been wrongfully stripped from their communal toolbox for the varied and just execution of the rights entrusted to us through the application of Natural Law.
