By officiating over the ceremony that installed the one-party CPP National Assembly, King Sihamoni “did not follow his father’s footsteps,” political analyst Lao Mong Hay said. “That the ruling party forced its way to getting final results confirmed and proceeded with opening of National Assembly regardless of petitions requesting the King to postpone opening parliament,” has left many feeling conflicted about the monarchy, he said.
