information from Batu Ampar Police Batam that a demonstration, in support of demands for a minimum wage increase in 2014, is planned for tomorrow 12 September 2013. Areas likely to be affected by the demonstration are (see map below) – Batam Centre (4), Base Camp Junction (2), Panbil Junction (3) and MELCEM Junction (1 – Batu Ampar). The Demonstrators are likely to gather at each of the nominated locations and congregate at the Mayor’s Office in Batam Centre (4) at approximately 8am. The anticpated size of the demonstration is approximately 2000 to 3000 people. Demonstrations may spread to others areas.
