By the way this may waste 60 seconds of your life, its up to you to read...... Some one mentioned that car drivers may see bikes flash due to poor road conditions, in my head i had an inkling that me Nan (Ex driving instructor) had once mentioned a flash was supposed to mean "can you see me" and not "ok pull out".... and lo and behold Highway code says Rule 110 Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users. So how many people have over the years broken a highway code rule 110........ Also remember her saying young girl on her test sees mate and toots horn whilst sat at rest in car with examiner, then wonders why she failed..... Rule 112 The horn. Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn while stationary on the road or when driving in a built-up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am except when another road user poses a danger. Law CUR reg 99 So its actually against the law to toot your horn whilst stood still to let your mates know that everyone in your bike group is ready to move off.......how many people have over the years broken that law.... £30 fine i think. Seems that over the years everyone has used the flash to signal "ok mate i will slow down you pull out"..... so poor roads have created dangerous situations because everyone over the years has reversed a highway code rule...... Oh and its against the law to use hazards whilst moving, except for short periods on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway to tell everyone behind there is a hazard ahead......
