Bye bye Cirque Hello everybody! It is that time. Time for a major change for me and my beautiful family. My time with Cirque Du Soliel has come to an end. It has been a great ride and wonderful experience for all of us but with all of the major changes in the company now is our time for something new. I have been with the show TOTEM for 4 ½ years since the show was created. On January 19th 2010 we left Los Angeles for Montréal Canada and have been touring ever since. We have traveled to 26 cities. I will have performed the show 1480 times (tomorrow evening July 5th is my final performance) while being bandleader for 165 of those performances. That is a serious amount of shows. Every one of those shows was performed with an amazing band full of amazing musicians. I will miss playing music with all of them. Every show grooved and rocked the house and proved every night that Julien, James, Josh, Annette, Charlie, Esi, Christian, and Rachel are total professionals and great people. We had a lot of great times together over the years. Thank you guys! The Cast a crew of Totem also made this journey a joy to be a part of. Those people work very hard to put on a great show every night and it shows. Tirelessly training and rehearsing to give the best performance they can for the paying audience and it showed every night. Thank you for accepting me into the team. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes who got us from city to city, fed us, planned the parties, and just worked so hard to keep us as happy as possible while we traveled. HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to the TOTEM school for an amazing school experience for Sophia and Anthony. I think they are very much prepared for the next phase in their education and their lives are so much richer with the knowledge you have given them. Over these last 4 ½ years I also kept as busy as I could outside of Cirque and was able to be a part of some fantastic recordings and shows. Here is a list of the things I did while on tour with Cirque (I tried very hard to remember everything, if I did forget anything I do apologize) Recordings NDV Pieces EP, (July 2011) Spock’s Beard X (June, 2010) spocksbeard/index.html BIG BIG TRAIN English Electric pt 1 (2012) English Electric pt 2 (2012) Make Some Noise EP (2013) English Electric Full Power (2013) Make some noise music video (2013) bigbigtrain/ Mystery The World Is A Game (2012) therealmystery/ Cosmograf The Man Left In Space (2013) Capacitor (2014) cosmograf/ Dave Kerzner Recording sessions for first solo release Coming soon Mike Baugh mikebaugh.co.uk coming soon Roy Strattman The Lie of the Beholder, (JUNE 2014) roystrattman/ FROST The Philadelphia Experiment (JUNE 2010) Cirque Du Soliel TOTEM (2011) gigs: Spock’s Beard EU tour SEPT2014 The Haircuts w/ Mike Keneally & Rick Musallam The Mint, Los Angeles DEC 13, 2011 San Diego, MAY 2012 NDV solo The Hard Rock Café, Pittsburg PA w/ Randy McStine, MAY 23 2011 Flying Colors Comics, Concord CA w/ Stan Ausmus DEC 5 2011 L’Agitee, Quebec City QC, Canada w/ “The Wicked Québécois” JULY 26, 2011 Montreal, QC Canada w/ Randy McStine JUNE 2010 Performance of “Shaming if the True” Whittier, CA JUNE 2 2012 Drumfest Poland, w Randy McStine & Jonas Reingold OCTOBER 2013 2 great recording workshops at Sweetwater Music 1 with the great Tony Levin, 2013 1 w Frank Bello (ANTHRAX), Don Carr, David Ellefson (MEGADETH), 2014 What’s next for the D’Virgilio? A lot! I have accepted a position at Sweetwater Music in Ft Wayne Indiana ( HUH?! What?! Nick D. a born and raised Southern Californian, rabid LA Dodger fan moving to the midwest? ) Yep. That is indeed what we are doing. It is a bit crazy to think about, but it was crazy to leave home 4 ½ years ago and join the circus. In all seriousness, I have been offered an amazing position and at an amazing company. I will be doing just about all things music related. From recording and engineering in Sweetwater’s fantastic studios, teaching in the music academy, playing with and demoing all kinds of new music gear, and many, many other things. In fact you all be seeing way more of me musically then you have for a long time and I am very eager to get back out there. Click on the links below and check out what Sweetwater does: sweetwater/ sweetwaterstudios/ I will also be heading over to the UK to film and record a live performance DVD with BIG BIG TRAIN this coming August 2014 at Real World Studios. I’m very excited about that as well. Life is a trip people. My family and I never expected what life has brought our way. We have tried hard to ride the wave as best we can and do right by the people around us. Our new adventure will be a challenge for sure but after this amazing Cirque experience we know we can handle anything and I am truly thankful for that. Thank you again all my Cirque brothers and sisters! You will very much be missed and always in our hearts. Onto our next big thing……..BRING IT ON!!!
