CA news coverage: TUOLUMNE COUNTY- The Rim Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest as burned 105,620 acres, or 165 square miles, as of Friday morning. In the last two days, the fire has exploded in size, even jumping containment lines and briefly threatening firefighters’ base camp. The fire was only estimated to have spread about 63,000 acres Thursday evening. Extremely difficult terrain has hindered firefighters’ efforts.
