#CA4UPSC National Sports Day today: National Sports Day is being celebrated today marking the birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar congratulated all sportspersons for their achievement in various sporting activities. Events like walkathon and football tournaments are being held across the country for the first time as part of the celebrations. The government is striving to spread sports to every corner of the country by creating a nationwide awareness about the fruitful side of sports. A scheme known as Come and Play has been launched for general public to make optimal use of Sports Authority of India stadia. National coaching camps are being organised by the concerned federations in these stadiam so that state-of-art facilities could be made available to sportspersons to enable them to achieve excellence in sports.
