CAC members protest Osun education policy by ADEOLU ADEYEMO on Jan 16, 2014 The controversy trailing the re-classification of schools in Osun took another dimension yesterday as hundreds of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) members staged a protest against the policy. They also threatened to drag the government to court over illegal possession of their land. The church members, who converged at the premises of the church in Osogbo, the state capital as early as 7.00a.m of the day, frowned at the hard line posture of the state government on the implementation of the policy. The members, in a letter signed by the Church Secretary, Elder Akin Olusegun and sent to the office of the governor on the development in which a copy was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, condemned the way and manner a multipurpose conference Hall for the Good women Association under construction on which over N10, 000,000.00 had been spent was demolished by the government all in the name of wanting to build a middle school on the land of the existing C.A.C primary school belonging to the church. “The authorities of the church are deeply concerned about the forceful takeover of the church’s land by the chairman of O’ School handling the project without mutual concessions. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely”. The action of the leadership of the ‘o’school is an height of impunity and lawlessness.” “For this singular act, we have to pacify the angry women and the youths in the church to avert commotion which could have followed, because Christianity is a religion of peace. One tends to suspect religious connotation and sentiment by the action of the head of O’School, who is a Muslim, in his determination to forcefully take over the church’s land.
