CALL FOR ENTRIES –Unbound(ed) An Encaustic Exhibition Morpho Gallery, 5216 N. Damen, Chicago, IL 60625 Dates: August 1st – 31, 2014 Entry Deadline: July 21, 2014 Jurors: Kathleen Waterloo and Kathy Blankley Roman Opening Reception: August 1, 2014 - 6pm - 9:30 pm About the Exhibition: The theme of Unbound(ed) can be interpreted by any of its meanings. “Unbound”: released from bonds or restraint, to let loose, to free; to not bind, as a book. Unbounded: having no limits, restraints or borders; never-ending; eternal, infinite. The exhibit is open to encaustic artists in the U.S. Mixed media is welcomed, but media must primarily consist of hot wax encaustic. 2D works only, unless it can be hung on a wall. Art should be no wider than 26, including frame or support. Applicants must include a short artists statement (50 words max) as to how their work applies to the theme About the Jurors: FusedCHICAGO members, Kathleen Waterloo and Kathy Blankley Roman return to jury this year’s exhibition after last several year’s successful show, Hot Wax in the City and Wax(N)Blue. Kathleen Waterloo received her BFA in 1996 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is represented in Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington DC, and Portland, and has been exhibited nationally and worldwide. The artist maintains a studio in Chicago. Kathy Blankley Roman is an award winning abstract painter. She has studied encaustic with Jenny Learner, Chicago and Shawna Moore, MT.
