CALL FOR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION Dear Colleagues in Youth Work, The Youth Consultative Forum (YCF) is pleased to call for the formal application of its membership from organisations and individuals interested in participating and supporting youth development work in Malawi. YCF is an independent federation of youth organisations, networks, coalitions, student unions, young professionals, young entrepreneurs, young politicians, young women movements and other actors in youth work formed in June 2012 to promote meaningful youth participation in development through collective voice and action focusing on youth development, citizen empowerment and policy dialogue in Malawi. YCF motto is “Giving Back to Mother Malawi” underlying the social responsibility citizens including the youth have towards nation building. YCF operates under collective values of volunteerism, patriotism, inclusiveness, accountability, transparency, integrity and equality. YCF is registered under Company Law as a non-profit making organisation. The purpose of the membership registration process is to maintain a database of YCF players who will form the General Assembly, a supreme decision-making body in the governance structure. It is the General Assembly that is mandated to appoint or elect office bearers in different positions to manage the affairs of the organisation on behalf of its members. It will also help in regulating communications. Later in the year, YCF plans to hold a governance indaba where its registered members shall among other things: review and adopt YCF constitution; review and adopt a code of conduct; elect office bearers; and review and adopt an Action Plan. Your membership to YCF will surely add value to youth development work in Malawi through improved networking that will facilitate capacity building, sharing of information, and access to various forms of opportunities. Through collective voice and action, YCF hopes to strengthen collaboration and meaningful partnerships that will help catalyse youth energies into productive work in search for tangible contribution to nation building in the face of a myriad of development challenges Malawi is facing.
