CALL TO ACTION- TIME SENSITIVE: As Albanys April 1 budget deadline approaches, the Senate has released a devastating state budget resolution for public school districts. Incredibly, most Senators, including Senator Bonacic who represents Warwick, voted in favor of this measure. ***This bill would fund Pre-K and After School Programming for New York City at the expense of desperately needed general education support for all New York students. *If the Senates budget passes, Warwick will LOSE more money. * According to the districts website we may lose elementary counselors and librarians, modified sports, 8-10 teacher positions (including seven positions through attrition), two administrators, reduce the number of students who attend BOCES programs, eliminate the New Vision program option for Warwick students, and more. ***Please call Senator Bonacics office (845-344-3311)**** tell him that: You STRONGLY OPPOSE the Senate’s State Budget education proposal That the $540 million dollars directed to NYC Pre-K should instead gone to GEA reform because it benefits all schools in NYS rather than just this in NYC That NYC is not the only area of NYS that has poverty and educational needs And that you expect them to represent the needs of their own constituents!!!
