CAN THE UNCLEAN BE MADE CLEAN? by ANTHONY Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 I have had a number of people want to know what scriptures apply to this whole issue of Rap and Heavy Metal Rock. It is well documented that both have their origins in occult rituals, that the musicians copied the music from occult rituals that they attended in Africa and other places. Even Wikipedia documents this. An article on the internet by a man named Giampaolo, once a top secular rapper before accepting Christ, answers this better than I can, so I am going to quote from his article. God specifically says that we are NOT to worship the Lord in the way that unbelievers worship. In fact, God wants us to destroy all traces of pagan worship in our midst: Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains and on the hills and under every spreading tree where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names form those places. You must not worship the Lord your God in their way. But you are to seek the place the Lord your God will choose from among all your tribes to put His name there for His dwelling. Deuteronomy 12:2-5 But you may ask, Cant we make rap music holy by adding good words to it? The scripture gives the answer to that as well. The priests of God were given careful instruction on how to determine if something was considered holy to God or not: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Now, ask the priests concerning the law, saying, If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy? Then the priests answered and said, No. And Haggai said, If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean? The answer is It shall be unclean. Haggai 2:11-13 So rap music does not become holy because you put some holy words to it. In fact it says the words also become unholy by touching the unclean thing. There is nothing in common with Christian words, Christian lyrics and rap music. Seeing the wicked origins of rap, we also see that rap music should have no connection with Christian holy words. There are so many scriptures that apply to this that I do not have room to quote them all here. Here are just a couple more: Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. 3 John 1:11 You shall not follow a crowd to do evil . . . Exodus 23:2 The meaning of the word imitate is: to take or follow as a model. To use modern terminology, Christian rap music is a knock off of the original occultic music. BUT THE HOUR IS COMING, AND NOW IS, WHEN THE TRUE WORSHIPERS WILL WORSHIP THE FATHER IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH; FOR THE FATHER IS SEEKING SUCH TO WORSHIP HIM. JOHN 4:23
