CAREER BUILDERS SOCK DRIVE SOCIAL A juxtaposition of social and philanthropic efforts to warm the hearts (and feet) of those less fortunate. BY NIKKI – SOCK DRIVE SOCIAL PR CHAIR Tis the season to be merry, giving, and warm - right?! That being the case, we invite you to come join us at Ballast Brewing (10051 Old Grove Rd, San Diego, California 92131) on Saturday, December 7 at 7:00pm for a sock drive/ member social. Benefitting The Family Health Centers of San Diego, all donations of new, unused pairs of socks will be offered up to people within the local homeless. Socks are vitally important to individuals that are constantly exposed to the cold air of winter nights. Also accepted will be donations of new or gently used gloves/mittens, scarves, knit caps/hats, and jackets of all sizes, styles, and colors. Stick around once you have made your donation drop and reward yourself for doing something good for your fellow man…with a beer! And food! And good company! A member social will coincide with the drive, so come hungry, thirsty, and with warm stuff in tow. Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring a donation for the cause as well. Much appreciation goes out to Ellen for setting up her workplace as the acting liaison between our club and the recipients of the donated items. Another big thanks to Suzy, the Club Special Event Chair - who will be getting credit in her Competent Leadership Manual in order to complete Project 10 (Team Building) - for heading up this event. Kudos to Sara D. as well, who is acting as the Co-Chair to this event, for which credit will be earned in her CL Manual to complete Project 6 (Organization and Delegation). Those that are not able to attend but would still like to make a donation to the drive can either bring the items in to an upcoming meeting and give them to an officer, or can contact Suzy or Sara to arrange a donation drop off or pick up outside of scheduled meeting/event times.
