CAST PROFILE: Brendan Iddles as Captain Corcoran Brendan’s interest in music was first sparked in primary school when he was given a solo part in the 1983 combined primary schools concert in the Opera House. Following on at high school with lead roles in Godspell and Lil’ Abner, also winning the Macquarie Music Award for Music Student of the year in 1987. Brendan was selected to be part of the NSW Bicentennial Concert Tour in 1988 and sang with the Sydney University Music Society (1990). He was a foundation member of the successful Hills Chorale group between 1992 and 1996 (winning the Australian Choral Championships in 1993). Music Theatre became Brendan’s primary music focus in 1994 with a minor lead role in the Hills Centre production of Fiddler on the Roof. Since then, Brendan has performed in a wide range of shows from G&S to contempory with many of Sydney’s best amateur musical societies. Lead roles in Pirates (Frederic), Mikado (Nanki-Poo), Gondoliers (Marco), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour) and Bringing the House Down (Mack) for Mosman Musical Society, A Chorus of Disapproval (Guy Jones) and Lend me a Tenor (Max) for Castle Hill Players, The Sound of Music (Rolf) at The Hills Centre, Damn Yankees (Young Joe) at Hornsby MS, Die Fledermaus (Alfredo) for Chatswood MS, Mikado (Nanki-poo) and Princess Ida (Hilarion) for Savoy, Joseph (Joseph) and Wizard of Oz (Tinman) for Strathfield MS, along with many other chorus roles for these and other societies. Brendan reached 7th Grade AMEB studies in voice. Apart from singing, Brendan enjoys cricket, fishing, rally driving and kayaking, and works for a pharmaceutical company based in Sydneys’ western suburbs. Brendan will feature as Captain Corcoran in Bundanoon and North Sydney. He will appear in the ensemble at Narrabeen.
