CATH LAB - REGISTERED NURSE: Details: • Participates in an environment that ensures quality work, group morale and is conductive to maintaining effective lines of communication. • Demonstrates teamwork approach by assisting coworkers in expediting processes to ensure efficient & effective workflow in the delivery of quality care. • Provides excellent customer service to our patients, physicians, offices and coworkers. • Alleviates patient anxiety and empathizes with patients and families in a caring manner. • Capable of handling various aspects of the job simultaneously while maintaining a calm outward appearance. • Assists physicians in cases of adverse reaction or in acute emergencies when necessary. • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency codes, location of emergency equipment and method of activation. • Maintains required credentials, licenses, and certifications within required renewal dates. • Adheres to department standards for on-call coverage • Performs duties in compliance with universal precaution and infection control. • Follows hospital and department protocols for sterile technique, patient monitoring & patient safety requirements. • Maintains radiation protection standards for patients, employees and self according to ALARA principles. • Provides a safe environment for patients during care and during transfers from one unit to another with care and comfort. • Obtains required patient history and/or consents, reviews for accuracy, completeness & verifies patient identification and information prior to procedure. • Verifies lab results prior to procedure to determine that the results are within normal ranges for procedure and that the patient is a candidate for administration of contrast material according to protocol. Consults with physicians as needed. • Demonstrates knowledge and handling of ancillary devices such as infusion pumps, 02, monitoring devices, IABP, I-Stat, glucometer, urinary catheters, chest tubes & other devices needed for patient care. • Responsible for cleaning equipment, exam rooms, and keeps an orderly work area for improved efficiency. • Utilizes computer system within the hospital guidelines. Effectively communicates, with professionalism, via email . • Proficient in required computer programs to perform daily job function.
