CAUTION: For open-minded people only. What makes Bangkok better than Manila? 1. I can sleep comfortably at public transportations just like minivan (fx), buses, mrt without being robbed or worst, killed. 2. I can withdraw money from ATM machines without the fear of being shot in the head. ATMs here are everywhere, even at public markets. 3. I can walk freely in Bangkok streets even during midnights without the fear of being stabbed or robbed. 4. Nobody gives sh*t if you are using Iphone. Majority of Bangkok population use Iphone, even cashiers, police, and even street vendors. If your Iphone got stolen, you can contact the service provider to locate your missing Iphone. 5. Streetfoods are generally safe and cheap. It wont give you diseases and stomachache. 6. In my 9 months of stay here, so far, no taxi driver took advantage of me as a foreigner. They stick with the taxi meter. 7. Transportation is way better than Manilas. And people strictly follow bus stops. 8. People dont throw thrash or spit on the road. 9. Honking. In my 9 months stay here, I never heard any car honking despite traffic jams. 10. People here dont care whether your english is good or bad. What important is that they can understand you, though they are really eager to learn English. Unlike in Manila, English is the basis of intelligence. One mispelled word, one gramatical error, one wrong pronunciation, some people will look down and despise you. They will question your intelligence just because of a minor mistake. Generally, safety in Bangkok is way better than Manila considering these two capital cities are from third world countries. Yet, why safety is being compromised in Manila? I think its better to start questioning on why crime rates in our country keeps on skyrocketing. How can we make our beloved city a safe and livable city? Home should be a place where you can feel the security you need. We need to stop excuses like you keep on complaining. You should just appreciate Manila as it is way better and richer than other capital cities in third world. Yes, Manila is way better than some capital cities id been in Asia, but how can we tolerate mediocrity especially when safety has been compromised? You cant blame us OFWs whos been working very hard far from our families, yet worrying a lot when we always read or watch absolute negative news abt our nation. But despite all the bad things, one thing I do really admire and being proud being a Filipino is our resiliency. Bangkok do not have earthquakes nor storm and typhoons, thus making the problem of the city focused just on improving infrastractute and preparations against Bangkoks biggest enemy - floods. On the other hand, in Manila, we always experience typhoons and Metro Manila is located above two tectonic plates, thus putting our capital region in big risk of catastrophe. Moving forward. Despite Bangkok being way better in some aspects compared to Manila, what makes these two beautiful cities amazing are the people. Both Thais and Filipinos, I can say, are among the worlds friendliest and happiest people. Both cities are livable with and making friends are very easy. And eventhough theres lots of sh*t happening in my city, Manila will always still be my number one love and my first home. Imagine how great Manila will be again if ever safety will be a priority. That will make Manila once again conquer the title Queen City of The Pacific. I MISS YOU MANILA, PHILIPPINES.
