Dear Professional Colleagues, In 1949, before the birth of constitution of India, The Chartered Accountancy Profession was born by an act of Parliament and since then the Accounting Profession has won the acknowledgment, accolades and admiration of the leaders of Indian polity, policymakers and heads of regulatory and compliance authorities. After 64 years CA fraternity, collectively stands tall as the second largest accounting body in the world with 2,20,000 members and more than 12 Lakhs students. It is no wonder that CAs are referred as partners in nation-building. The role of Chartered Accountants in the socio-economic development of the society is very vital. Be it macro-economic framework or micro-management of finances of an individual, a CA plays a quintessential part in the economic life individuals and business entities. Despite the glorious history, tradition of excellence and a vast knowledge bank, CA profession is facing a number of challenges. These challenges require participation of CA fraternity in the Political Process to ensure that there is proper representation of interests of small and medium sector business entities, who rely heavily on the small and medium size practicing CAs as advisors. The Chartered Accountancy profession is grossly under-represented in the Political Sphere and Policy making process. Today while the nation is ready for a political metamorphosis, it is also time for CA fraternity to gear up for participation and representation in the chambers of Policy makers. CA fraternity can utilize their powerful reserves of deep understanding of the Policy making process both domestic and global and ensure that the socio-economic policies of the future governments are given a right direction and favourable atmosphere is created for overall development. With a view to strengthen the roots of Small and medium businesses, CA profession and to address their issues, the Forum - CAs for Modi has been constituted and CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Past President, ICAI have been nominated as the National Convener of CAs for Modi and CA. Anuj Goyal has been nominated as the Deputy Convener by the Treasurer of BJP and Rajya Sabha MP CA. Piyush Goyal. The Forum, under the able leadership and guidance of CA. Piyush Goyal, will not only play a role in bringing the Chartered Accountants to the forefront of the Election Process but will also ensure that the needs of the common man, which a CA is very much aware about and relates to, find a learned and expert voice in the decisions of the future government. The forum is an attempt to bridge the gap between expectations of CA Community comprising of around 2.2 Lakh Professionals as well as over 12 lakh students and the Political decision making. Our CA Parivaar has the capacity to influence crores of citizens and this forum will act as a stage to address the issues facing the nation and profession. We will be organising nationwide programs and initiatives to engage Chartered Accountants in every nook and corner of the country from the grass root level to the top and will be ensuring that their views are heard and acted upon. To show the strength of support for Shri Narendra Modi in the form of documentary evidence, ‘CAs for Modi’ forum, will collect maximum Cheques in favour of “BJP- Modi for PM Fund”. The amount is immaterial and should be in the form of voluntary contributions dependent on the choice and capacity of the Contributor. We must not forget that CA fraternity has established a fine record of achievements and improvements within the ICAI and now we would like to be known as catalysts for change in governance. Chartered Accountants can act as pillars of honesty and integrity and the nation can rely on them. Aspirations of young and dynamic India can be realised only through strong public governance mechanism and its effective implementation and CAs for Modi will just aim for that.
