CCCR Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Program The Center for Colon Cancer Research (CCCR) at the University of South Carolina is leading the development of innovative and groundbreaking research in colorectal cancer. One of the primary goals of the CCCR is to foster the progression of young scientists, and we are seeking undergraduate students to participate in research internships in a cancer-related field (e.g., biological sciences, pharmacy, public health). During the summer of 2015, a CCCR Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Program will be inaugurated. Program details: • 10 week program: May 24, 2015 - July 31, 2015 • $4,000 stipend, on-campus housing, and up to $1,000 travel expenses • Summer research symposium (July 31st) • Professional development workshops and research seminars Eligibility: • Rising juniors and seniors • Minimum 3.0 GPA • Any major related to biomedical or public health research • Underrepresented minority: African-American, Hispanic American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander To apply, please submit the following on-line at cccr.sc.edu by March 6th: • a personal statement describing your interest in cancer research (no longer than one page) • a current transcript • two letters of support from science professors • preferences for up to 3 potential faculty mentors (see our list at cccr.sc.edu under “What We Do.)
