CDC is concerned over the possible spread of Ebola in the U.S. - TopicsExpress

CDC is concerned over the possible spread of Ebola in the U.S. Equally so is the UK government despite their intervention. Today WHO expressed similar concerns at the prospect of Ebola reaching neighboring countries in Africa. Naturally, citizens of countries not yet affected by Ebola should be so worried and are now putting enormous pressure on their governments to take drastic preventive actions as necessary If Sierra Leone was in that quagmire, I would demand travel ban from our govt. and to close borders. True! Therefore we shouldnt be surprised at actions by countries to ban travel and close borders with SL Against the backdrop of looming travel bans and border closure as the infection rate peaks, we must at this juncture, show understanding toward other countries in their quest to prevent Ebola migration. As iterated in an earlier post, I would favor mandatory testing of travelers from affected countries 10 days prior to travel. This is 100% reliant as infection can take place after testing but it will provide further assurances to host countries to avert travel ban. In a typical British style, the UK government has not placed any travel ban per se but refused to renew the landing license of Gambia Bird. They are focusing on the airlines instead to implement tacit policy not endorsed by WHO. Today Jamaica has imposed travel ban and others may soon follow. We need to showcase serious action to prevent global travel ban. With midterms elections due in US, the democrats would support any public demand to stop Ebola including travel ban. No matter how costly, we must introduce mandatory Ebola testing before travel outside SL.
