CELEBRATING FREEDOM FROM OPPRESSION---Text for the Day: Nahum 1:6-15. Memory verse: Affliction will not rise up a second time. . . .Behold,on the mountains the feet of him who brings good tidings,who proclaims peace ! O Judah,keep your appointed feasts,perform your vows. For the wicked one shall no more pass through you;he is utterly cut off---Nahum 1:9-15,NKJV. The QUEST for FREEDOM is an UNBEATABLE ONE in ANY COMMUNITY,especially in PLACES where OPPRESSION ABOUNDS. When ONE OBTAINS FREEDOM from his or her SLAVE-MASTERS & OPPRESSORS,it is ALWAYS A TIME FOR CELEBRATION. This will be more so IF ONE KNOWS THAT THE ONE WHO HAS GRANTED THE FREEDOM IS SUPERIOR TO THE OPPRESSOR. In this passage,Nahum made it CLEAR that NO ONE DARED FACE THE WRATH OF GOD. Yet,HE WILL FACE THE ENEMIES OF HIS PEOPLE WITH FIERCE ANGER. Are you FACED with OPPRESSORS & YOU THINK YOU ARE DONE FOR ? You NEED to SEE GOD IN THE LIGHT OF THIS PASSAGE: HE CARES FOR THOSE WHO TRUST IN HIM,yet PURSUES HIS ENEMIES INTO UTTER DARKNESS WITH AN OVERWHELMING FLOOD. Are you DYING under the WEIGHT OF OPPRESSION ? Do you FEEL THE NETWORKS OF YOUR ENEMIES ARE SO STRONG ? Or you FEEL you are BEING AFFLICTED OF THE LORD ? Here is GOOD NEWS FOR YOU ! As you REMAIN WITH THE LORD,HE WILL CUT OFF YOUR ENEMIES & THEIR NUMEROUS ALLIES,HE WILL AFFLICT YOU NO MORE & HE WILL BREAK THE YOKE OF THE ENEMIES FROM YOUR NECK. When YOU SEE THESE DONE,remember to CELEBRATE THIS FREEDOM FROM OPPRESSION & FULFILL YOUR VOWS TO THE LORD. This passage DESCRIBES THOSE WHO PROCLAIM PEACE AS HAVING BEAUTIFUL FEET. Are your FEET BEAUTIFUL ? What MESSAGE do you proclaim ? WISDOM: The best way to celebrate freedom from oppression is to freely serve the Lord. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Am I an oppressor,stopping people from freely serving the Lord ? FOLLOW THROUGH: Think about someone you know you are oppressing & have a change of heart to free the person today.
