CET papers not properly sealed’ Sensing suspicion in ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (CET) for Medical and Engineering Courses 2013, after Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) authorities distributed Biology papers instead of Chemistry on Saturday, the aspirants demand re- examination of the previously held papers. The aspirants told Kashmir Monitor that BOPEE authorities have distributed papers which were not sealed properly and were bearing staples instead of an authenticated seal. “Earlier the papers used to bear a red color seal but yesterday we saw that all the question papers were stapled. How can we consider that this test is fair one? We demand that there should be re-examination of the previously held papers,” said an aspirant, Omair-Ul Aslam. As per the protocol all exam papers should be sealed properly before being distributing among candidates and the answer sheets should also be returned within sealed packages. Apart from alleging BOPEE for issuing biology papers instead of Chemistry papers, many aspirants claim that that the Chemistry papers were distributed 25 minutes late than the scheduled time. “We fail to understand why the BOPEE authorities had not prepared themselves properly to conduct the tests. Earlier during physics paper, biology papers were distributed and the same thing was repeated. The superintendents said that they were having 25 papers less and made us to wait for more than 20 minutes,” said another student, Muzamil Ahmad Bhat. Students also demand that government should handover the CET exams to NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test). “Every year there is some problem with CET due to the negligence of BOPEE. So the government should issue the authority of holding these entrance tests to MCI as we don’t have faith on BOPEE authorities,” said Asif Ahmad, MBBS aspirant. When contacted Chairman, BOPEE, R.D Sharma denied the charges of improper sealing of papers. “The papers are properly sealed and these are baseless allegations,” he said. Sharma said that there was a human error at the printing level and assured that they would conduct the tests of the Chemistry paper and Biology after getting nod from higher ups. “We are ready to conduct the tests and the papers which have been postponed. After receiving orders from higher ups we will conduct the examination of these two papers,” he added. Meanwhile, Coaching Centres association has strongly condemned the gross malpractice prevailing in the BOPPE and appealed to the government to order a CBI inquiry into the incident which has become a routine in the selection process. The Association warns the government that they will come on roads to save the future of students if proper probe is not initiated in the matter. “The rising corruption level in BOPEE, SSRB and PSC is brewing distress and frustration among the students who burn mid night oil to seek the selection in tests. Many aspirants even leave studies half way as the institutions entrusted with the job of selection are losing credibility day by day,” they said. They also blamed authorities for working as tools for the corrupt bureaucrats and ministers. *fais*
