CGSS Sual medevacs ailing chief cook of foreign bulk carrier in Lingayen Gulf DOTC-PCG: Elements of the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Sual have successfully evacuated the ailing Filipino chief cook of a Panamanian bulk carrier who reportedly fractured his upper arm last Monday, October 28. According to Capt. Hunnu A. Lolo, master of MV Belle Masuka, C/Cook Jose V. Costa was suffering from fractures on his upper arm and requested for a medical evacuation. Immediately, the personnel of CGSS Sual contacted ships local agent and continued to monitor the movement of MV Belle Masuka. On the same day, CGSS Sual together with the Special Operations Unit-NWLZN proceeded to the bulk carrier 3NM northeast off Lingayen Gulf and successfully transferred the 42-year old chief cook with a sling on his left arm. Costa, a resident of General Trias Cavite, was then turned over to Richard T. Flores of Arctic Shipping Corp., the local agent of MV Belle Masuka. Flores escorted the chief cook to Metropolitan Hospital in Sta. Cruz Manila for proper medical attention.
