CHANDLER TINTYPE AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS.—Today I visited the Library of Congress to talk about the recent donation of the Chandler tintype, Civil War portrait photography, and the Liljenquist Family Collection, for an upcoming story that Washington Post reporter Mike Ruane is writing. In attendance were key members of the Library staff, including Helena Zinkham, chief of the Prints & Photographs Division. Also in attendance was Tom Liljenquist, who last Friday donated the tintype of Sgt. Andrew Martin Chandler and family slave Silas Chandler to the Library, and Ruane. The story may be published as early as next week.
