CHIBELO NI CAPITAL? On my way from a gender empowerment summit in livingstone, I heard a song on the radio titled CHIBELO NI CAPITAL. I listened to the song intensively and the message I derived from the lyrics is that the singer was praising the use of womens bodies as a venture to get rich and amass wealth. He compared a young lady that uses her body to get rich to government officials that steal money and satanists that use the devil as a catalyst to get rich. He said the young lady was not stealing money from anyone or doing anything satanic but just using her body. This way of articulation in my view is what is causing the ever alive pandemic of HIV/ AIDS in our country. It is the cause of violations such as Gender based violence because women fail to think independently knowing that income can only be generated from depending on men. Why should a body of a woman be capital to amass an income? Why cant she get a hold of a plough and till the land? Why cant she use her hands to tailor and raise an income to go to school? The problem with us women of today is that we are not persistent like the men. When we fail our grade 12 for instance, the next alternative is marriage while men are rewriting in night schools. When we lose our financial sponsors while we are in grade 9, the next alternative is marriage. while men would rather divert their attentions to opening a small business and moving foward. Yes CHIBELO NI CAPITAL . Your capital will be AIDS. Your capital will be gender based violence to the extent of murder. Your capital will be continuous dominance in leadership by men.
