CHIEF OF PARTY, MALAWI Description We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated large, multi-year agricultural development project in Malawi that will focus on targeted crops, and provision of technical assistance/finance for agribusiness SMEs. Responsibilities: Provide overall program management, developing a strong, coherent technical vision and initiating innovative strategies across the program. Supervise program operations, personnel, M&E, and preparation of periodic written reports to USDA and ACDI/VOCA headquarters. Work with agribusiness SMEs to help strengthen agricultural value chains. Identify potential innovative solutions to agricultural productivity. Identify and manage a wide range of technical assistance needs for market linkages activities. Develop relationships and implement cohesive strategies with agriculture and private sector representatives, producer groups, financial institutions, government organizations, and other stake holders. Oversee activities and ensure compliance with USDA contract requirements. Ensure effective overall contract management, reporting, communications and relationship management with USDA. Qualifications M.S., M.B.A., or other post-graduate degree in a relevant technical field. Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in Malawi or other regions of Southern Africa with a similar development context. Experience in agronomy; producer-organization strengthening; agricultural marketing and trade; business development and financial services for the agriculture sector; storage and warehouse receipt systems; monitoring and evaluation; and communication. Work experience in value chain strengthening preferred. At least 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience, preferably on large and complex USDA-funded contracts required. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Fluency in English required.
