CHILDREN WITH FOOD ALLERGY REPORT BULLYING IN SCHOOL In a recent article published in “Pediatrics” roughly a third of 251 children reported being bullied because of their food allergies. Only half of the time did the parents know about their child being bullied. Bullying significantly decreased the child’s quality of life. Anecdotes of bullying included an allergic child’s face being touched with peanut butter by one bully and another bully spitting milk in a child’s face causing an anaphylactic reaction. At least 15 states have guidelines for managing food allergies in schools. pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2012/12/19/peds.2012-1180.abstract
