CHIP AND A PUTT The Wingham Golf and Curling Club enjoyed a taste of summer this past week and many golfers took full advantage of the great conditions. The Tuesday ladies got the week off to a good start with 17 ladies out for nine holes of golf followed by lunch in the golfers lounge. Ann Ross was the winner of the longest putt with Marg Carswell claiming the prize for closest to the pin. The Wednesday morning senior men had 23 golfers on a great morning for golf. Bill Johnston took home first prize money with Bill Stephenson second and Lloyd Lamont third. Bill Deans was winner of the closest to the pin while Ed Daer sank the longest putt. Don Bone and Steve Nixon shot low rounds for the day posting a score of 39. The Thursday night men had 68 golfers hit the links. Don Edgar and Ben Dailleboust both shot solid rounds of 38 to share low gross. The closest to the pin winners were Devon Connor and Matt Harris with Ken Mathers, Jason Goodall, Murray Coghlin and Scott Helder claiming the longest putts. The hidden score prizes went to Kent McPherson, Grant Currie, Dave Reinink and Mike McDonagh. Monday August 12th the Clinton Casino fundraiser was again a huge success as a group of 66 got together for a terrific ham and scalloped potato supper followed by some friendly gaming.
