CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA TO BE A CRACKER Thursday November 27th from Noon The countdown is on to Dumfries Christmas Extravaganza, the Christmas feeling is well and truly in the air and anticipation is building to the big switch on this Thursday at 6pm. Christmas is just a few weeks away, and the Dumfries Christmas Extravaganza is taking place this Thursday! A day full of activities is planned to take place across the town adding to the excitement of the Christmas light switch on at 6pm. The day gets under way from noon as for the first time ever, the Dumfries Christmas Market is open in the lower half of Bank Street, the market will feature established businesses as well as showcase stalls from local Young Entrepreneurs who are supported by Dumfries & Galloway Council and Business Gateway Plus. These stalls are being financed by Dumfries Retailers Association. With up to 30 stalls there will be a great choice for those looking to start the Christmas shopping. Many shops are staying open to 7pm to allow everyone the chance to grab a bargain as some retailers are offering discounts and special offers on the night. Children will be entertained by the range of activities taking place in the town centre, ski-slope, rodeo reindeer and an ice-rink are among the attractions on offer, while The Stove Artists Network have a surprise or two planned for the day. Oasis Youth Centre have planned a busy day of entertainment on the Plainstaines with local schools, community groups, singers and dancers performing from 12.30pm. The Christmas light switch on ceremony takes place at 6pm and will be broadcast LIVE on award-winning Dumfries community radio station, Alive 107.3; official media partner of the Dumfries Christmas Extravaganza.
