CIA released documents that refer to Area 51, and claim it was merely used to test the U-2 and A-12 spy planes. "U-2 and later OXCART flights accounted for more than one-half of all UFO reports during the late 1950s and most of the 1960s.” Which is really weird, because the vast majority of UFO reports cite objects that look nothing like the U-2 or the A-12, both of which look like conventional planes, more or less, and would be unlikely to provoke UFO reports. Nice try (actually, it was a really crappy try).
