CLIMATE CHANGING AND OUR ENVIRONMENT. Climate can be simply defined as the average weather condition of a place over a long period of time. It is comparatively constant over a long period of time, climate varies from one part of the world to another due to some effects which bring about climatic change. Climatic change is a long term alteration in global weather patterns especially increase in temperature and storm activities regarded as potential consequence of the green house of the green house effect. The greenhouse of the process by which the earth’s surface and lower atmosphere is getting warmer as a result of pollution by gasses such as carbon dioxide, the heat from the sun cannot escape, leading to a general increase in the earth’s temperature called global warming. It also causes a rise in sea levels some of the factors which lead to climate change include desert encroachment, drought, air pollution, etc. desert encroachment also know as desertification is the process by which useful land especially farm land changes into desert. It is also, the extension or spread of the desert to areas which were originally not the desert before. This occurs when there are changes in the climate of place from partial wet climate to dry one. Sokoto is a state of prolonged and abnormal moisture deficiency a general state of dryness. It also refers to the absence of rainfall which is long enough to cause total dryness in an area. In other words, it is a long period of dryness weather when there is not enough water for plants and animals to live. Climate changes arise as a result of drought which tends to increase the temperature of an area, reduce precipitation and cause lack of rainfall. Air pollution is the discharging of solid substances like smoke, dust, and soot from industries and machines into air. Climate changes have several effects on the surrounding we live in, they have destroyed several useful elements such as air, water and plant growth as well as aquatic life. The world has suffered a great loss as a result of the climatic changes. The effects are not environmentally friendly, there must be solutions in order to neutralize its effects. The solutions to climatic changes are: Afforestation creation of shelters bets, controlled use of wood as fuel, environmental education, avoidance of over grazing, provision of artificial stimulation/cloud seeding, improved method of farming, cutting of trees and bush burning, Dropping of unwanted bin should be controlled or restricted, emissions from industrial machines in all countries should be cut down. In a nut shell, climate changes can be reduced if not eradicated by the coming together of all countries in order to participate and make use of these solutions of effectively. Patriot John Alex.
