CLOTHES-TRIGGER TUESDAY, continued! (Yes, clothing/fashion rants are my jam today, interspersed with occasional event announcements) I am sitting in a Starbucks in downtown Bethesda. I want to spend at least one hour with the protagonist of my new play, and she is a tough nut to crack, so I need to be a) sitting upright and b) well caffeinated. Across the street is a womens clothing store with a window full of little black (or dark) party dresses. Boat-neck or otherwise high necklines, hems down to just above the knee; I can tell even from this far away that the fabrics are not stretch. That is not my idea of a party outfit. When I go out, I want people to be anxious and/or eager for my tits to pop out. I want a skirt high, to show a lot of leg, and it needs to either stretch or flow, to give me room to stride. I want bright colors that will stun you a little. I want something that goes with my boots. I want something that I can stuff in the corner of my suitcase. As it turns out, I do have a strong sense of personal style. Mostly I adapt what I can scrounge, but when faced with a shopping trip into New-Clothes Land, I can feel my instincts sitting up and going, wait a minute...
