SENIOR REPORT - SAT 24th AUGUST U85kg Final: A true final and great achievement by our two restricted 85kg teams the Raiders and the Bombers to have reached the finals. This was the third time this year both teams had faced off against each other. The Raiders picked up two easy tries to take the lead to 13-3 at halftime, but it was the Bombers in the second half that came out firing. The Bombers forwards keeping control of the ball and rumbling it through the Raiders pack to bring the score back to 13-8. With the last twenty to play both teams showed why they are the best two teams in the competition by far. After throwing everything at each other in attack and solid defense the score crept out by penalties to both teams and it went right down to the final whistle, with the Raiders wining 16-11. What an awe-inspiring season for the Raiders as they were the better team on the day. They had an outstanding Championship win for a 3rd year in a row and continue theirwinning streak which now sits at 51 games. Congratulations to the Raiders. We are sure to see both teams come back strong in 2014. Amassive congratulations to the first grade team on making their grade final where only 1st and 2nd place teams after round robin play the final. The First Grade Final was played at the Orakei Domain. It was always going to be tough for our First Grade team to win against a team of former Premier and Reserve players but they held strong in the first half to keep Teachers Eastern at 10-0. It was TeachersEastern’ s big forward pack that made too much ground and many line breaks that pushed the score out to finish the game, 37-10 victory to Teachers. Our CROCS travelled out west to play Suburbs and ended in another draw and will be out to win this week when they host Grammar Carlton Friday at Rifles.
