CM addresses consultative seminar of doctors Handout No.2 Peshawar 18th November 2014 KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked the doctor community not to doubt on sincere intentions of PTI-led coalition govt about bringing reforms and improvement in health sector. He said doctors are our own children and part of our entity so we could not think bad about them. He deplored that the existing system of health and treatment miserably failed that neither fulfilled expectations of the masses nor even the doctor community was satisfied of it. He said provincial cabinet has setup high powered ministerial committee to consult with doctors for the proposed health care reform act in the province. The committee has been given a deadline of one week to compile its report for legislation after the consultation process, he added. He was addressing the consultative seminar of senior doctors about health care reforms at CM House Peshawar. PTI Chairman Imran Khan was chief guest on this occasion while it was also attended by Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qiaser, Provincial Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, Mushtaq Ghani, Muzafar said, Imtiaz Shahid Quershi, Ali Amin Gandapur, Ziaullah Afridi, Shah Farman Khan, Muhammad Atif Khan, MPAs Fazle Elahi, Zarin Zia, MNA Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq, PTI provincial general secretary Khalid Masood, head of Health Reofrms Unit Dr. Javed, Coordinator Dr. Ijaz Ahmad, Dr. Barki from USA and office bearers of Insaf doctors forum. Pervez Khattak said that change in the system and reforms was the unanimous voice of all of us including the people and doctors as he said it could guarantee the welfare and existence of our present and coming generations. He said provincial govt has decided not interfere in any department as he said there was no question of our success without it. He said that improvement in our health sector could equally benefit the poor and doctor community and even our coming generations would harvest its fruits. “We have to make the system a success with mutual efforts even at the cost of any sacrifice because such a sacrifice will prove temporary and we will get permanent benefits of it”, he added. Chief Minister expressed the confidence that the high power ministerial committee setup by the provincial cabinet the other day would complete the consultative sessions with doctor community with their active cooperation and would submit its recommendations as soon as possible so that this great task of national interest could be cherished without any delay. Earlier Senior Minister Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, head of Health Reforms Unit Dr. Javed and coordinator Dr. Ijaz Ahmad highlighted various aspects of the proposed health reforms and requested the doctors community and especially the senior Professors to give their input in light of their vast experience while a number of senior doctors also deliberated on these health reforms and put forth their recommendations. The senior doctors also held separate session with PTI chairman Imran Khan and founder principal Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital Dr. Barki.
