CMsgt Brently David Johnson of Harrah, OK, passed away on August 6, 2013, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born in Hartsville, SC, on August 31, 1977. He attended Hartsville High School and received a degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1995 and served four years at McGuire AFB, NJ. He joined the South Carolina Air National Guard in 2000. Brent transferred to the Missouri Air National Guard in 2005 and was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in 2013. He married Tara Sue Hill on April 1, 2006. Brent worked for the Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base as a System Equipment Specialist for Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems. He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Tara; his parents David and Valerie Johnson of Hartsville, SC; his sister Katie Turner and her husband Jason, and nephews and nieces Chafin, Skylur, Aiden, and Tinley of Smithville, MO; uncles Mike Chafin and his wife Freda of Hartsville, SC; Phillip Chafin of Dallas, GA; and Ronnie Johnson of Hartsville, SC; aunt Vera Fishback and her husband Damon of Dallas, GA; and many special cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Tillman and Ada Johnson of Hartsville, SC, and Herman and Kathleen Chafin of Mableton, GA. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, woundedwarriorproject.org. A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, 5:00 p.m., at New Providence Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC, with visitation in the fellowship hall following the service. Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville is assisting the family.
