CNIRBS Concert and Workshop at the 11th Penang Island International Jazz Festival 04-07 December 2014, Bayview Beach Resort, Batu Ferringhi, Penang penangjazz Sat, 06 Dec @ 1:10pm Workshop: Music innovation through unusual combinations Sat, 06 Dec @ 7:20pm – 8:00pm Concert: Main stage performances “Jazz by the Beach” Comprising of Matthäus Winnitzki (keyboards & composition), Stephan Meinberg (trumpet & euphonium) and Konrad Ullrich (drums); they say that on a seemingly unmemorable day in the rainy city of Hamburg in order to make their own musical contribution for the amusement of mankind, CNIRBS was formed. Their musical style thrives between wild improvisation and complex global rhythms, bonding folkloristic drinking music, free spheres and solid beats fueled by electronic frequencies and vibrates with the energy of a pressure cooker, shortly before bursting. These fearless three members, equipped with keyboard, wind, percussion instruments, and a variety of flashing lights and mysterious foot pedals, succeed in this musical balancing act with verve and sweaty ease. CNIRBS do their thing leaving their own, unique stamp. There will also be panels at the Penang Island Jazz Festival. Reiner Michalke, the artistic director of the Jazz Festival in Moers, will talk about festival programming. CNIRBS will also give a workshop and a concert on 10 Dec at Kuala Lumpur International Jazz Club at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. These events are supported by the Goethe-Institut Malaysia and the Malaysian-German Society in Penang.
