CNN, the progressive choice for news and info on the latest top stories, ran an incredible op-ed today from James Dawes, director of Human Rights at Macalester College in St. Paul. Writing, from the safety of a liberal arts college, in response to a WSJ editorial and a tweet from Jonah Goldberg, National Review Online, Dawes suggests that we should not use the term evil to describe ISIS because it is such a strong word that makes us stop thinking. He believes it is dangerous for us to think s Mr. Goldberg stated, They are evil. They do evil things for evil ends. He warns of bombing them for there will be others to take their place. He missed the history lesson from WWII. He missed the recent example of the lesson that should have been learned which showed exactly the situation he describes, the vacuum that was created by not obtaining a satisfactory SOF agreement and maintaining a formidable presence. One thing that Mr. Dawes should consider while he works to understand what makes men become monsters is that ISIS does not care what term he uses, or what he thinks he might come to understand, and that they will not hesitate to brutally cut off his head.
