He is solidly built and so handsome. He is a unique sandy color with lighter fur on his body than his big round head. His eyes are round and bright. King Maximus has been uprooted from his kingdom and it shows. When I first took him out he contemplated trying to hide, but came out with me pretty easily. It took two walks around the block before he was comfortable enough to relieve himself, and when he did it was apparent he had been holding it for a while! When we approached a fire hydrant, King Maximus stopped dead in his tracks and scoped it out, approaching very cautiously...he is definitely in a foreign land! Though he seemed shell-shocked and shy, he was still courteous towards me and even warmed up after a bit. When I sat down he came over and let me pet him all over, even wagging his tail! Upon returning him to his cage, King Maximus searched for a way out and back at my side! On subsequent visits he is still very quiet and reserved in his cage, but approaches me with a very low waggy tail and submissive body language. He is much quicker to relieve himself now and is likely housetrained. King Maximus has seemed interested when weve seen other dogs - almost as if surprised and comforted to see another fallen sovereign! He likes to be pet and is still very wide-eyed on our walks, but also attentive. He seems very happy to see a familiar face; after loving on him and resuming our walk he did a sort of march with his front paws - I hope a sign of joy! He is very intelligent and knows exactly when we are heading back and tries to change course. King Maximus is so sweet and Im sure will make a wonderful, loyal companion! He is eager to find his new throne and return to a home environment - please come meet him at the Brooklyn ACC! 07/03/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPERIENCE Exam Type BEHAVIOR Helper Dog: A1003616 Notes: King Maximus is a timid and shy dog when first approached and needed coaxing to get him out of the kennel and did not display aggression.
